As I'm writing this, it is mid-2026. In the last six months or so since the current generations of AI models were released, I have been plowing through about a 20-year backlog of projects that I have thought about and dreamed about and wanted to implement but never had the time or patience to actually get started on.
This is clearly evident in my GitHub contribution history.
As I mention in the README, this is a project I've had in my mind for literally 20 years. I don't know if it's entirely a success or useful in Year of our Lord 2026, but it has been fun to build.
A big part of the point of this was to discover if there were ideas or paradigms in the original Agenda that are useful or interesting in today's world. And indeed, I've been thinking a lot about the categories, items, edit-through views, and conditional assignment actions that Agenda is based around. It is a simple but powerful system that doesn't really exist anywhere today.
Whether or not aglet itself turns out to be a successful project on its own remains to be seen, but I have already I have also been using it as a basis for further projects. Instruct Claude to understand the paradigm and features in this codebase, and apply it to this new, more specialized, domain-specific implementation.
I am working on another (still stealth-mode) domain-specific planning application based around some of these same concepts that I learned through researching Agenda and building my own implementation. Stay tuned...
neonv ("Neo NV") is a straightforward re-creation of Notational Velocity. The original Notational Velocity has not been updated in many years (last build is from 2011). I wanted a modern version with a few updates for the current world. It's just a place to collect, capture and search for text files/snippets.
It works great and I use it every day.
