**Principal DevOps Engineer**

- Lead the Infra/DevOps team for Submittable's grants management platform. Own
  the infrastructure roadmap, drive cloud strategy, and manage a
  multi-million-dollar cloud and SaaS budget.
- Created and drove the strategy to unify the merged companies' infrastructure
  after Submittable's acquisition of WizeHive, building out a single management
  plane across clouds and products (AWS and Azure), with standardized CI/CD,
  observability, and infrastructure management.
- Led the team's adoption of AI-assisted engineering. Rolled out tooling and
  wrote the team's standards for AI contributions and review.

### Almaden Genomics                                        8/2022 - 1/2024

**DevOps Lead**

- Responsible for all aspects of the development and operation of the Almaden
  Genomics cloud infrastructure, including building and developing the entire
  AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) infrastructure from the ground up, ensuring scalable,
  reliable, and secure operations.
- Planned and executed a migration from IBM Cloud and IBM Kubernetes Service
  (IKS) to AWS and EKS.
- Initiated and led the adoption of a CI/CD model for development, accelerating
  the software release cycle from bi-weekly to multiple deployments daily.

**DevOps Lead** - IBM Research, "Project G.nome"             5/2021 - 8/2022

- Played a key role in launching Project G.nome, an internal bioinformatics
  startup within IBM Research's startup accelerator, leading to its successful
  spinoff as an independent company, Almaden Genomics.
- Reduced time to provision new customer instances from days to minutes (using
  Terraform to provision cloud resources and Helm to deploy to Kubernetes).
- Reduced time to deploy releases from hours to continuous delivery rollouts,
  driven by a GitOps-style promotion and approval workflow (using Tekton for
  CI/CD pipelines and triggers, and Helm for application deployments).

**Sr. DevOps Engineer** - IBM Sterling Supply Chain          7/2017 - 5/2021

- Led the effort to transform IBM's Business Transaction Intelligence (BTI)
  systems from manually deployed virtual servers to containerized workloads on
  Kubernetes. Automated deployments with Ansible and UrbanCode Deploy.
- Migrated "BTI 2.0" from Kubernetes on bare metal to IBM Cloud Kubernetes
  Service (IKS), and implemented continuous deployment with Helm and Spinnaker.
- Implemented and maintained Spinnaker for continuous delivery. Created
  multi-stage, templated Spinnaker pipelines integrating with GitHub Enterprise,
  Helm, and HashiCorp Vault to manage deployments across multiple staging and
  production environments.
- Supported and mentored engineering teams, enabling them to independently
  manage their own deployments and configurations.
- Acted as an incident lead, engaging multiple groups to resolve critical
  problems and following through with root cause analysis.

**Systems Engineer** - IBM Enterprise Marketing Management   6/2011 - 7/2017

- As part of the Architecture and Engineering team, overhauled IBM EMM's legacy
  SaaS hosting: consolidated multiple environments into two geographically
